I did not have a telephoto lens with me on this trip, but I was drawn to trying to photograph the rich faces of the people of the island. This was a new experience for me. Most of my photography has been nature-based. In many cases I felt awkward approaching people and asking if I could take their picture. Children were different, they always seemed to want to have their picture taken. Several of the folks in these photos were people that I got to know during my visit.
