Part 2: Arriving in Estonia/my flat.

I took the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Here I am arriving in port.

A better view of the city of Tallinn from the ferry. The central tower marks "Old Town" - 14th century structures and fortifications.

The first thing I noticed about my new flat in Tartu is that the bath is, well, rather small. You are seeing most of it.

Then I noticed the amazing views from my third story flat. This is a 'front' window shot of a university building (mural) - one of my courses this fall will be taught in that building. On the left is a park where people hang out and consume spirits.

I have a "two room" apartment. This is room one: the kitchen. The refrigerator is the small under-counter appliance against the wall. The flat is reasonably spacious though.

And now room two: the living-room/bedroom. I have satellite TV - with nearly 200 channels (but only two in English). At least I have internet access....

The famous "kissing statue" in Tartu town square (next door to my flat). The two lovers are supposed to be students. You can see the Estonian national flag (blue/black/white) and the town hall behind the statue.

Looking away from the kissing statue into the main square. There are frequently events and tents erected in the plaza for all sorts of things.
