Down the Apple Orchard Falls Trail

The trail begins at Sunset Field on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Paul Moriarty poses next to the trail sign with The Valley in the background.
Apple Orchard Creek begins as a trickle. Slowly it builds and begins to fall over the rocks and boulders.

The mountainside becomes quite steep as we look through the trees and see the creek spilling over ever-larger falls.
Eventually, Apple Orchard Creek plunges over a 150-foot precipice, creating the spectacular Apple Orchard Falls.

Paul contemplates the falls. A nice place to spend a long break.
Robb is finished contemplating the falls. He is ready to move on.

We continue down the trail for another mile and a half, eventually crossing the bridge over Cornelius Creek.
