TI-83 Instructions

 

Drawing the Probability Histogram of a Discrete PDF

 

 

  1. Enter the values of X into list L1.
  2. Enter the probabilities of X into list L2.
  3. Press 2nd STAT PLOT.  The STAT PLOTS menu appears.
  4. Use the arrow keys to select item #1, Plot1. 
  5. Press ENTER.  The Plot1 menu appears.
  6. Select On.  (It is already highlighted.)
  7. Press ENTER.
  8. Press the down arrow once.
  9. Select the histogram type of plot.  (It is the third one.)
  10. Press ENTER.
  11. Press the down arrow once.
  12. Press 2nd L1.
  13. Press the down arrow once.
  14. Press 2nd L2.
  15. Press WINDOW.  The WINDOW menu appears.
  16. To the right of Xmin, enter a value at least as small as the smallest value of X in list L1.
  17. Press the down arrow once.
  18. To the right of Xmax, enter a value at least as large as the largest value of X in list L1.
  19. Press the down arrow once.
  20. To the right of Xscl, enter the smallest difference between any two values of X.  Typically, this will be 1.
  21. Press the down arrow once.
  22. To the right of Ymin, enter 0 (minimum probability).
  23. Press the down arrow once.
  24. To the right of Ymax, enter a value at least as large as the largest probability in list L2.
  25. Press GRAPH.  The probability histogram of the pdf of X appears in the display.
