Alpha Chi Sigma, founded in 1902, is a professional fraternity for students pursuing degrees in chemically related sciences with over 65,000 initiates. Its purposes are threefold: to provide social functions for its members, to foster academic motivation and excellence, and to promote a program of professional activities for the College and the community.
Our brotherhood, the Beta Chi chapter of the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity, unites Hampden-Sydney men that are looking to form "true and lasting friendships" during their stay on The Hill. We have 9 brothers living in our house on fraternity circle and over 25 in various dorms and apartments around campus.
The student court chairman and another member of the court, several RAs, and ODK and Phi Beta Kappa members, as well as leaders in other campus organizations on campus are all brothers at Alpha Chi Sigma.
