Christmas Caroling at Holly Manor - 2005
|
| |
Nearly every December, the adult choir of College Church meets at Holly Manor in Farmville on a Saturday afternoon. They
convene in an activity room where an appreciative audience of residents is assembled. The choir sings a concert of a capella
carols from the hymnal, then walk through the halls singing carols to residents in their rooms.
This year, several members of the Hampden-Sydney men's
chorus (and their director, Dr. Frank Archer) joined the choir for the afternoon, and a happy, festive time ensued. In addition to singing
a longer concert in one activity room, the group sang a shorter concert in another activity room, and caroled through all three divisions of the
nursing facility, including the new Ray Moore Rehabilitation Center. Under the high, reverberating ceiling of that space, one resident
commented that the carolers sounded just like the Mormon Tabernacle choir... compliments the likes of which will keep the group
returning year after year!
