The College Church adult choir accepted an invitation to participate in the Service of Ordination and Installation for The Reverend
Ernest Leatherbury Gardner III on September 22, 2002. The service was held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, one of three churches
in the Christ Presbyterian Parish (the other two being Arvon and Fork Union).
Ernest "Ernie" Gardner is well-acquainted
with quite a few members of the in College Church through mutual participation in the Commonwealth Chorale.
Rev. William Thompson of College Church and Rev. Owen Norment, formerly a member of College Church, served on
The Commission to Ordain and Install; Rev. Thompson served as moderator. He also delivered the sermon for the service.
The choir's selections were "Brother James' Air" arranged by Gordon Jacob, "Go Not Far From Me, O God" by Nicolo Zingarelli, and
"The Lord Bless You and Keep You" by Peter Lutkin.

Choir members and others socialize in front of the church; Parishoners speak with Rev. Gardner before the reception; Owen

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit,
out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord." Psalms 40:1-3
