-- Bill Martin Visits Delta Deuteron Chapter -- On November 8, 2007, Bill Martin (Mississippi State '75), Executive Director of Phi Gamma Delta, visited the Delta Deuteron Chapter to conduct an anti-hazing workshop. The chapter was delighted to receive Bro. Martin, and the brothers were eager to reinforce their commitment to ending all hazing in Phi Gamma Delta by doing their part to ensure it does not occur at Hampden-Sydney's Phi Gam chapter. Bro. Martin expressed his personal views on hazing. In particular, he compared hazing to a person who encourages good people to do bad things, and one who encourages bad people to divide a fraternity--all under the false promise of unifying a victimized pledge class. The brothers of the Delta Deuteron chapter left the meeting with the intention of passing on Bro. Hillman Terzian '08 as President; Craig E. Winkels '09 will replace T. Whitney Jacobs '08 as Treasurer; R. Hunter Hopcroft '10 will replace McLean C. Bean '09 as Recording Secretary; R. -- Brother Meek Elected Student Court Chairman -- On February 23, 2006, the students of Hampden-Sydney College elected Brother J. Gardner Meek III '07 as their Student Court chairman. The judicial powers of the H-SC Student Government are vested in the Student Court, which tries breaches of the Code of Student Conduct and breaches of the Honor Code. The brothers of Delta Deuteron would like to congratulate their brother for his prestigous accomplishment. Currently Gardner serves as Recording Secretary and as Rush Committee co-chairman of the Chapter. Brother Meek's picture, taken from the Student Court's website, is at right.
