The Hampden-Sydney Rugby Club  provides an opportunity for students to play an intercollegiate sport -- with somewhat fewer time demands than are  required by a varsity sport.   Matches are usually played on Saturday afternoons in a Division III  League that includes; Christopher Newport University, the College of William & Mary, Longwood University, Roanoke College, University of Mary Washington,  University of Richmond, and Washington & Lee University. 

USA Rugby is our national governing body. More information is available at:  .http://www.usarugby.org/default.asp. Most teams in Virginia belong to the Virginia Rugby Union which organizes championship matches  More information on our local area Rugby Union is available at: http://www.rugby.org/. The Rugby Club promotes sportsmanship and camaraderie within the Hampden-Sydney community. All students are welcome.  

No prior experience is necessary!

Required Equipment: Cleats (no toe cleat allowed), Mouth Guard, Running Shoes.

Fall 2010 Season: Practices begin on Wednesday, August 25, at 4:30 on the field behind Venable Hall.  The fall schedule is posted on our web site under Schedule and also on the College's Events Calendar which is available at: http://www.hsc.edu/cgi-bin/pres/events/calendar.pl.
