Philanthropy

Philanthropy is a significant part of Theta Chi Nu. Every brother in the chapter is required to complete 8 hours of community service per semester. The brothers here at Nu chapter fulfill this requirement in several different ways including FACES and other service projects. Among these is the Blood Drive. The Blood Drive is something that Theta Chi Nu does in partnership with Virginia Blood Services and hosts two blood drives a year. We do one during Macon Week in a competition with Randolph-Macon and one in the spring, usually sometime in April. Another event we participated in this past fall semester was the Alzheimer’s Walk, which took place at Longwood University. Theta Chi Nu raised the most money overall at this event, raising over $1,500. Hopefully, we will continue to participate in this event in future years. In the past, Theta Chi Nu has also participated in Relay for Life and is planning on participating this year as well. One additional way that we are planning on serving the community is through road clean-ups in this spring semester. Theta Chi here at Hampden-Sydney has made philanthropy a big part of what we are about and plan on doing so in the future.
